Transmission Repair

Start with the symptom. Choose the repair after the evidence.

Slipping, delayed engagement, shuddering, harsh shifts and transmission codes can have different causes. Integrity helps identify the application and determine whether targeted repair, rebuilding or replacement is the responsible path.

Symptoms FirstDescribe when, how and under what load the problem occurs.
Codes Need ContextA trouble code is evidence, not a complete diagnosis.
Options ComparedRepair, rebuild and replacement are evaluated separately.
Appointment BasedTesting and in-vehicle work depend on scheduling.

Services

A transmission complaint does not automatically mean a complete transmission.

Some transmission concerns begin outside the internal geartrain. Low voltage, wiring faults, programming, cooler problems, engine performance issues and incorrect fluid level can imitate or contribute to transmission symptoms. Other complaints point to converter, valve-body, clutch or hard-part damage.

Integrity starts by identifying the exact transmission and reviewing what the vehicle is doing. Existing scan results, fluid condition, repair history and the conditions that trigger the symptom all help narrow the path. In-vehicle diagnostic availability is confirmed before an appointment is made.

When internal damage is likely, the useful decision becomes whether a selective rebuild or a professionally remanufactured replacement provides the better combination of cost, warranty and predictable turnaround.

What Matters

Clues that shape the repair direction.

No symptom proves one failed part by itself, but the pattern helps determine the next responsible check.

01

Shift Complaints

Flares, slipping, delayed shifts, harsh engagement or a missing gear can involve pressure loss, clutch wear, valve-body problems, electrical control or internal damage.

  • Note hot versus cold behavior
  • Record which gears are affected
  • Save all current and history codes
02

Shudder & Converter

A vibration during light-throttle lockup may involve the converter clutch, fluid condition, engine operation or calibration. It should not be sold as a converter from the symptom alone.

  • Vehicle speed and throttle position matter
  • Misfire must be ruled out
  • Debris can change the repair scope
03

Leaks & Fluid

A leak can create low-fluid pressure and serious damage, but the source may be a line, seal, cooler, pan or case area. Fluid color alone also does not prove the full condition of a unit.

  • Do not overfill
  • Use the correct fluid and procedure
  • Address cooler and line integrity

A Clear Path

A practical evaluation path.

The goal is to collect enough evidence to avoid selling the wrong repair while also preventing unnecessary additional damage.

STEP 01

Document

Send the VIN, mileage, symptoms, codes, prior repairs and a video when useful.

STEP 02

Screen

Integrity reviews the application and determines whether an appointment, external test or replacement quote is appropriate.

STEP 03

Confirm Scope

Available evidence is used to separate a targeted concern from likely internal failure.

STEP 04

Choose the Path

Receive the realistic repair, rebuild or reman option with the applicable warranty and installation plan.

Common Questions

Answers before you schedule.

These answers provide a starting point. The vehicle, evidence, written quote and warranty terms control the final recommendation.

Can a transmission code tell me exactly what failed?

Usually not. Codes identify a monitored condition or circuit. Fluid condition, live data, symptoms, wiring and mechanical evidence are often needed before choosing a repair.

Does slipping mean I need a replacement?

Not automatically, but continued slipping can quickly damage clutches and contaminate the unit. The vehicle should be evaluated before additional driving.

Can you repair only the valve body?

Sometimes, when the evidence supports a hydraulic-control problem and the rest of the transmission is still serviceable. A valve body should not be used to cover up established clutch or hard-part damage.

Should I clear the codes before contacting you?

No. Save current, pending and history codes when possible. Clearing them can remove useful diagnostic context.

Start With the VIN

Get the correct application before choosing the repair.

Send the VIN, mileage, symptoms, codes, prior repair information and whether the vehicle is drivable. Integrity will review the available path and follow up with the next step.
